If you're ever in the area you must visit the Lucky Cafe. Its pretty incredible. 70's style diner with a breakfast/lunch menu only. It's the mister and I's little secret that now we're sharing with you. I srsly dream of those hash browns with their special sauce. Mmm.

I've mentioned before how the mister and I have decided some time ago to join forces & open up a his & her's design studio and I'm so happy to announce that its all been finally set in motion! Last night we purchased pizzacupcak.es {domain/hosting migration is still in process}. Originally we were going to go with "Glenn and Elizabeth" but ultimately decided it was too long and boring. So Pizza Cupcakes it is--a little bit of me & a little bit of him :)

We are taking on new clients starting immediately. Get in touch with me if you're interested in having some design work done. We'll have a portfolio site and email set up real soon. We're excited to embark on this new journey!

I've noticed quite a few newcomers 'round these parts {hello, lovely I Go By Katie readers} so I thought I would do a little re-introduction. I've been furiously working away at my impending redesign which is launching soon & will include a new About page in addition to an FAQ section. Until then, here are a few facts about myself.

I heart technology.

Whether it be blogging, freelance web designing or tweeting--the Internet plays a big role in my every day life. I love the communities based around it & feel blessed for all of the opportunities I've been given from it. I just love it.

I'm in love with my best friend.

My boyfriend is Glenn Vito Weatherson & we are quickly approaching our 3 year anniversary. We live together in Sacramento's downtown capitol doing what we love & attempting to make a life together out of it. He likes to ride bikes & make me laugh. I asked him out on the first date & almost immediately moved in together. We plan to get hitched one day, when the time is right.

My dog is cuter than yours.

Walter is a pure-bred Brussels Griffon {or ewok, you choose} & is our pride & joy. We treat him like he's our own son which, he practically is. He is definitely a daddy's boy which irks me but I love him just the same. This is him running along the north coast, which is one of his favourite places.

Family is everything to me.

I'm 100% Mexican & come from a huge family. I alone am the oldest of 5 girls {that's my mom and my sisters--minus one, up there}. I was never bored growing up & my childhood was super happy. It's crazy & amazing getting older with my sisters and seeing them come into their own. Saying that makes me feel old!

I am a huge nerd. Like, really.

It's true. Above all else, I am more geeky than anything. I love learning. In particular, I like history, reading, the concept of time & all things design-related. I believe you should know your stuff before making a brazen opinion. When I have a little extra cash more likely than not I will use it to buy a new typeface from my never-ending wishlist. *pushes glasses up bridge of nose*

Since we're fans of going out of town for Valentine's Day, the boy & I celebrated over the weekend. We ventured up north to McCloud & stayed in the cutest little B&B around. Here's a little photo-journey of our weekend {image heavy!}.

What's a road trip without a little caffeine? Apparently it didn't affect me because I passed out for a good portion of the ride. Whoops.

Not to be outdone, Glenn took a little nap when we finally got there. We were so tired from our early start!

I knew the room we stayed in was cute just by the website photos, but it was even more magical in person.

How neat is the ceiling?! There were tons of charming little details like this.

The locals recommended we hike down the see the waterfalls which were BREATHTAKING. We had quite the snowy adventure along the way.

As lovely as the photos are, they really don't quite capture how beautiful everything was in-person. And so in an attempt to give you a live glimpse, I'll leave you with this video I shot on my iPhone 4 of me giving a little tour of the surroundings--and then Glenn interrupting me. RUDE.

Do you ever have one of those weekends that actually feels like a weekend? I felt like I had one of those, and it was awesome.

Saturday night we decided to invoke our "grown up" right to ice cream for dinner, and so we did just that & headed over to Leatherby's Creamery. It's hands-down the BEST ice cream of your life. We've both been coming here with our families for years. For all you non-Sacramento natives, you don't know what you're missing.

{Best root beer float I've ever had. Look at Glenn, little brat couldn't even wait until I was done taking the photo to dig into his haha}



{apparently I get really excited about dipping my french fries in vanilla ice cream. What?! It's yummy, you should try it}.

On Sunday we spent a good chunk of it doing some much needed SpringWinter cleaning & getting our home in tip-top shape. We still have a ways to go but it's looking better and better. Words can't express the feeling of sitting in a put-together home. It lightens the entire mood, for sure. After a much needed grocery trip to our local Trader Joe's, we stopped by our favourite bar for a well-deserved drink. It's a country-themed sort of place and they even have a mechanical bull. I haven't been brave {or drunk} enough to ride it yet but Glenn has & it was pretty hilarious.

Earlier that day I also began styling a Little Gray Suitcase update photo shoot I have been lagging on. Everything was looking just the way I wanted it to.

I clicked the shutter & then...that was it. My camera died and we turned the house {newly cleaned, mind you} upside down looking for the darned batter charger but couldn't find it :( I managed to snap this one with my iPhone right before my Nikon died. So sad. We still don't know where it is and I'm bummed I have to continue to wait to take my photos. Le sigh.

Other than that minor mishap I couldn't have asked for a better weekend. I slept a lot, hung out with my gorgeous friends + boyfriend & got a lot accomplished. I didn't even open my laptop once, which I was very proud of, but means I have a lot of catching up with y'all to do today! Hasta luego. xo

The past week has been pretty magical. Busy, but magical nonetheless. I thought I'd share some things I have been loving lately;

1> Freelance + my lovely clients. I've been having a blast switching up my workspace & collaborating at home with Glenn.

2> The new She & Him music video. The styling is perfect & Zooey never ceases to amaze me.

3> I'm sure you're tired of hearing about it but I cannot get over wearing my hair in a bow. It's so, so easy to do too! Have you tried it yet?

4> tumblr. Specifically this photo; it makes me giggle every time. But srsly, I've become obsessed with tumblr; I can be on there for hours looking at so many inspiring things. Follow me if you please.

5> And last but not least, this cute boy. For lighting up my life every single day♥

Last night the 5 of us got together at Elsa's apartment for Sister Night, which consisted of attempting mom's sesame chicken + fried rice recipe, Carlos Rossi sangria {don't hate, its amazing} & Free Willy on DVD {a childhood favourite of ours}.
