Watching: I’ve recently become obsessed with the TV show Shameless. Glenn and I were supposed to be watching it together but then I showed my roommates the pilot episode; they got hooked and us girls sped through the entire first season. Oops.
Thinking about: Money and how to make the most of it, lately. I am grateful to be bringing in a little more than I was at my old job and now I want to do the responsible thing and be 100% debt-free & add to my teeny savings account. I’m lucky enough to only have a few minimal things on my credit report, my car is paid off and I don’t have any credit cards. I need to look into a legit financial planning system so I can get on the right track–especially if Glenn and I are serious about buying a house in the near future.
Reading: Between both my new job + working for myself, I’ve had zero time for reading, which makes me super sad. I picked up The People’s History of the United States for Glenn awhile back because he was interested in some no-nonsense history literature and after reading the first few pages I think I’ll download it to my Kindle so I can read it as well. I LOVED history in school; took AP all through high school. Anything on the subject fascinates me and the book definitely piqued my interest.
Looking forward to: My nephew being born next{!} month. My sister is about ready to pop. We threw her a baby shower a couple weekends ago and it really made everything seem that much more real. Onesies and strollers and burp cloths, oh my! I can’t wait to hold him; that will be sure to quell my baby fever for awhile ;)
Making me happy: All of the female influences in my life. From my roommates to my closest girlfriends to my family members–they all have such a huge impact on the kind of person I am. Nobody defines me but they definitely inject color and light into my days. /cheese

I am jealous of you being debt free, I just put all my student loans together and I don’t think I’ll ever be debt free =-(
Well I’m not debt-free YET…but I aim to be. Yeah, I hear student loans are a drag :(
i know that it doesn’t help with the debt thing (and you’re probably already privy to it) but i started using the simple visa card and it totally changed my spending habits! it’s a cross between mint + your bank account, and it has so many awesome features that really make you feel accountable & help you with your financial goals. and i’m totally not a representative – i just love them. check it out! simple.com (i have an invite if you’re interested :) )
Thanks for the heads up, Vanessa. I have heard of Simple but totally forgot to look into it–I must because it sound super awesome!
I love Howard Zinn (RIP). He changed my academic life for the better. He makes me want to be a better citizen. Can we fan girl out over history? LOL
YES. Anytime <3
Oh man, I love history too, but I had the hardest time with the People’s History! I swear I had to read the same sentence like 5 times to get it. (And I still never even finished.) I am so impressed with you!
